Been here in the past (more then 4 years ago) and it was good then but today it has crashed and burned. All hype and no sauce?!? Ya dry pasta and can you say Mechelina's - I think that's how it is spelled - you know the frozen entre you microwave. Service was sloooooooooooow! Nope not for me anymore.
I don't understand what the hype is about this restaurant. The service was fine, but the food is ridiculous. We have been there 4 times now, but each time was worse than the previous time. The food was so bland, my 10 year old could of prepared it with more taste. Not only was it bad food but the wine prices are outrageous!
Well if you would be kind enough to read a little furthur and notice my Valentines day review, you would notice that I used to love dinner at this establishment and obviously after this bad experiance I will no longer return. Please, do not insult my taste as that is exactly what the chef did when he confronted us in the same demeaning tone. I dine at many fine places in Ottawa and abroad and I also understand discussing the problems to solve them so they no longer happen again but to humiliate paying customers, not acceptable. I would have returned to this establishment if the problem would have been handeled differently but it wasnt and my only intention was to warn potential diners that if something is unsatisfactory, dont complain or risk being embarassed. Please no more personal attacks, or attempts to discredit my reviews.
This comment is for TASTIE, it sounds like you came with one intention to discredit this restaurant. You seemed to have made it a point to not only rip apart the food but got personal about particular staff members that spoke with you and should have,there is nothing wrong with the marsala sauce your palette obviously is not one of experience. I have dined in the best Ottawa and area Italian restaurants and the sauce is excellent, quite comparable. Anyway, i would rather put my positive energy into commenting about how much this restaurant contributes to the community of Stittsville, makes customers feel at home and bottom line take pride and and work very hard to provide quality food and service.
I would like to start off by saying that I have never been so humiliated, embarrassed and insulted in an establishment in my life. Our appetizers of escargots were overly watery and hidden amid mushrooms which were undercooked. The calamari was good, just good.The ceaser salad was ok, not enough dressing and certainly not homemade. Our main dishes arrived 45 minutes after our appetizers, the pesto gamberi was nothing special, the chicken marsala was horrible, the marcela sauce tasted bitter, way too over cooked and heavily salted. The chicken parmesan was delicious. The waitress (which is the owners wife) came over to ask if everything was ok and we politely mentioned to her that the marsala sauce was not satisfactory, she removed the plate without a word and walked to the kitchen. Not even a minute later the chef (owners brother) came storming over to our table demanding what was wrong with the dish. We explained that the sauce tasted over cooked and he blurted out "well that's what marsala sauce tastes like, you just don't know what marsala is" I was flabbergasted, I quietly told him that we do know what it is supposed to taste like and that it was not to our liking. He then continued to tell us that he had tried the sauce and that nothing was wrong with it, basically calling us liars while the rest of the patrons around us listened in shock. He then stormed off back into the kitchen,the owner proceeded to tell us that the dish would be removed from the bill, no apology for the chefs behaviour, or even for the unsatisfactory food. We paid our bill and left, never will we return and as for anyone who is not satisfied with their meals at this establishment, well just know that they will send their chef out to challenge your taste in a very unprofessional, embarrassing manor.
