We dined at the Siamese Gecko last evening for our anniversary. The menu had plenty of options, you could choose from curries, stir frys, and soups. After each meal title, there is a ranking of how spicy the dish is starting at not spicy going up to very, very spicy. I chose item 25-2 (sorry, the name escapes me) because it was under the very, very spicy and it certainly was. Even with my tongue on fire, there was an amazing amount of flavour. It was served on a platter with chicken, green beans, sweet red pepper, Thai basil, kaffir lime and crushed hot peppers. My wife had a squash curry that was delightfully creamy and the squash melted in your mouth. It was a non spicy dish with some sweetness in it and again, plenty of flavour. The prices are excellent, most dishes range from 9.99 to 11.99 and we both brought home half of our dinners. Meals do not come with rice or noodles, they are extra. However it was only 1.99 for a bowl of rice that was more than adequate and the whole cost of the meal was very affordable. Service was adequate, the restaurant was clean including washrooms. Last week we had to organize a sudden meeting for our project with US clients. Due to lack of time we missed out planning for lunch but thanks to my ‘Opentable’ app Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Chicken Parmigianino, Spring Lamb with red wine that I found Carmelina Restaurant in Woodbine Avenue. Their event catering service for lunch & evening snacks made me & my team proud on my decision. I wonder how I missed looking this food place for last many years. Thank you Abbas for your cooperation & on-time food catering service with delicious Italian food as our guests loved it. We went there for nice dinner during winterlisious 2012. Overall restaurant is very busy but cozy and romantic. Our server was running around in hurry and as a result during entire evening mixed up who ordered what, since it was only two of us it was ok to switch. Food Overall was very good: My appetizer was yumm and so is my the other person, soft deep fried calamari was excellent. Chicken skewers were moist and sauce was perfectly spicy. For the main dish disappointment arrived, all main dishes come with rice and stir fry. Stir fry was the WORST I have ever tried, super hard giant pieces of cabbage+ raw zucchini made it unpleasant both on taste and texture. Main dish of red curry was excellent and rice was perfectly done. Basil beef was amazing (properly the softest piece of beef I have ever tried in my life). Desserts were good too my mango-chocolate mousse cake was heavenly and banana fritter had amazing crunchy but sweet coating on it . Lire plus
