Stop by White Lily Diner for dinner, drinks and a retro vibe on Queen Street East in Toronto. While many people associate the word diner with dishes like all-day breakfast, brunch and roast beef dinner, this Queen Street restaurant goes the extra distance to give suppertime spenders an unexpected experience. The atmosphere is stylish, the music is what you want to hear and traditional dishes like roast chicken with buttermilk dressing are exceptional. “We make our own bacon,” says owner Ben Denham.
“The burger is insane,” says Ashley Lloyd, Ben's business partner and girlfriend. “It comes across as your average roast beef diner but what you get is anything but,” adds Ben, who's worked in restaurants since the age of 13 – and it shows. Try White Lily Diner's twist on pork chops and applesauce for full flavour and a full throwback. The humble meal was made popular by hit '70s show The Brady Bunch.
In addition to old school comfort food, on Friday nights you can enjoy half-price wine and craft beers. There's also a list of classic cocktails to choose from and sip until 10 pm.
