The actually worst experience and service I have received. Not only did my hair look like a three year old took scissors to it but I also was hung up on when I called them in tears after I got home and examined my hair. Please don’t waste your money here. No one deserves to be treated like this when you’re paying for a service.

This is now my second bad experience here. First time I came in and told the lady I wanted hair extensions specifically 16 inches to 18 inches. She was helpful at first and told me she had some in. When I went to pay I noticed she tried ripping the tags off before she gave them to me after I payed. When I got home and opened it I realized that she was trying to hide the fact that she sold me 14inch hair for the price of 18. I have been a customer at Afro Hair Studio for the better part of 4 years. I have never had a bad experience or witnessed any unprofessional behaviour. Amy has always given me a good servjce and in fact I travel an hour and a half to get there. Both Amy and her husband are very pleasant. I highly recommend this salon!

Ask for a trim and you get a bad haircut

This is my experience at the African Hair Studio: I have been going for 2 years to this hair salon on Commercial Drive and I have to say they run a shabby business. They never have change in the till, which makes you wonder if they have a float like every single store should have as part of their cash flow control. Initially, I thought that the owners Ibrahim and Emy were very welcoming, but I noticed that they keep their clients waiting ... Ibrahim turns up when he wants, whilst clients are waiting to get a trim. Speaking of a trim ... I recently had my hair relaxed by Emy, and had asked for a trim. My hair had grown considerably slightly passed my shoulders and I commented on it. However, she was in a odd mood and I felt really uncomfortable. Not only did she cut off 4 inches, she did an extremely bad job!!! The ends were not blunt at all, indicating a trim ... or even a cut. The worst of it is that my hair is terribly uneven. I can't stop crying when I look at my hair now. For those black women out there, you know how slow our hair grows. I visited the salon to ask to speak to Emy and explained that I was unhappy with what she had done and demanded a refund. She denied that my hair was long and also that she had not cut that much off. I demanded a refund and she refused and said that if I didn't leave quietly, she'd force me to leave!! She then called a police officer nearby and blatantly lied to my face that she had not done what I accused her of. The police officer then said that there was nothing that could be done ... I certainly did not want her hands anywhere near my hair again to even attempt to remedy what she had done. So he advised me to post a review. What on earth is going on here????!!!! I am the unsatisfied customer and I am threatened to leave the premises because I demanded justice!!! I suggest that if you want a hair cut, go to Emy ... she'd give you an avant garde hair cut. If you are asking for a trim ... stay clear away!
